Pack of 20 illustrations created for Guilherme Duarte's latest book, 'Odeio Pessoas' (I Hate People). Guilherme Duarte is a Portuguese comedian, and in this book, he delves into a collection of texts about the types of people that everybody hates, even if they don't admit it. Examples include people who chew with their mouths open, those who wear sunglasses indoors, or individuals who clip their nails in public spaces.
It was a truly enjoyable project where I had the total creative freedom to illustrate a bunch of quirky characters. The editorial coordination was overseen by Álvaro Carvalho, for Ideias de Ler publisher, part of the Porto Editora group.
All illustrations were approved on the first attempt, a rare occurrence in our industry, as all of we know. The one below was the only exception, requiring a couple of revisions to reach what the client was looking for.
I also was asked to come up with a cover proposal. I developed two potential versions, but unfortunately, neither aligned precisely with the client's vision, so they weren't approved. Too bad, I still think that the one on the right could have made an excellent cover.
